LowDown Brass Band (LDB) deftly synthesizes the gritty sounds of Chicago with the high energy second-line street beat of the Crescent City. LDB brandishes a powerful brass frontline of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, with a funky backline of drums and sousaphone. Combining the poetic ferocity of Billa Camp with stellar vocal harmonies, adventurous improvisation, movement, and grooves, LDB creates an infectious and diverse sound that has something for every listener.

Fresh off their appearance at The 2017 Chicago Jazz Festival, LowDown maintains a constant performing and touring schedule throughout North America. In 2015, LDB released an ambitious project titled “LowDown Sounds” that included a critically acclaimed cameo by Roy Ayers on the track "Everybody Loves The Sunshine." LowDown Brass is now set to begin the next chapter with the release of their 5th self-produced full length studio album "LowDown Breaks." This new offering steps deeper into refining their unique sound, combining the hip hop sound with multiple world music and jazz styles.

Rick Bickham, better known as rapper Ricky B, takes us on a ride through the neighborhoods he raps about, and back to the neighborhood where he grew up and performed his bounce music back in the day. Rick Bickham, better known as rapper Ricky B, has been living in Baton Rouge since the late 1990s, but his roots in the St. Bernard Housing Development area are still deep and strong.

Nearly 25 years ago, he met his wife there, pulling up suavely at the bus stop to offer her a ride as she waited on a hot New Orleans summer day. As he honed his stage skills, he competed in - and often won - talent shows in clubs around the neighborhood. Cruising through the development on a recent spring afternoon, he pulled up where Foy Street ends at the edge of a grassy swath and got out to point out where the basketball court used to be.

"This is where we brought the DJs out, two DJs across the street from each other," he said. "And we would have a hell of a time. We'd have fun."

Ricky B remembers older relatives and neighbors who called the area Pilot Land. He still has relatives who live in the development, razed and rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina, and now officially known as Columbia Parc.

"I don't think it'll ever go away unless we let it go away, and start saying 'Columbia Parc' instead of 'St. Bernard,'" he said. "I can't say 'Columbia Parc,' I always say St. Bernard. 'I'm from Columbia Parc. Where's that? Oh, it used to be the St. Bernard.'"

Bigalow was born on September 28, 1968 as Byron Veal in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was one of four children born to Gilda Johnson, a drapery seamstress. Bigalow's upbringing commenced in the St. Thomas housing projects and surfaced in surrounding areas of New Orleans Metropolitan. While residing in Mid-City after countless law altercations, fathering four sons, and life threatening events; his street lifestyle transitioned to allocate of personal life experiences.
